I am a person who enjoys sitting down to watch a movie, especially if I know it's going to be good (either from what I've heard, recommendations or the trailer). So I have decided to compile a list of my all time favourite movies that are all definitely worth watching!
1. FIGHT CLUB

Fight Club is probably my favourite movie by far. It is just such an awesome movie and it really messes with your head. This movie was released in 2000 and it is categorized as a Drama/Black Comedy. It is a movie that needs to be watched to be understood and I don't really want to give anything away by saying what it is about. I have re-watched this movie many times, because I enjoy it that much, and I noticed things in the movie the second time I watched it that I didn't notice the first time I watched it. This is definitely a must-watch movie for everyone!
2. 12 MONKEYS

I recently watched this movie and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was looking through old movies to watch and this movie looked really interesting. It is about a man that is imprisoned in the 2030's who is recruited to be sent back in time on a mission, to the 1990's, to collect information about a plague that wiped out the majority of the world's population. I quite enjoy futuristic movies like this, especially if the story line is good. This is quite an old movie, it was released in 1996, but I have seen that there is a TV series also called 12 Monkeys, which is a reboot of the movie.
3. PULP FICTION

I only watched this movie last year and it was such a good movie, I know it is a movie that a lot of people love. Pulp Fiction was released in 1994 and it is about two hitmen whose story is interwoven most of the other characters in the movie (again it is one of those movies that you have to watch to see what it is about and it is definitely worth it). It is categorized as a Drama/Crime movie.
4. 13 GOING ON 30

This movie has probably been one of my favourite movies since I was a little girl. It is the perfect chick-flick for a girls night. The movie is a Fantasy/Romance and it is about a teenage girl who fantasizes about being an independent adult and being grown up, her desires are met when she turns into a grown, 30 year old woman overnight, but she soon realises that adulthood is not as easy as it looks.
5. THE MATRIX TRILOGY
I really love all of the Matrix movies, but the first one is probably my favourite out of the trilogy. The Matrix is a science-fiction action movie franchise about heroes fighting a war against the machines that have enslaved humanity in a sophisticated virtual reality system known as the matrix. The three movies are (in order): The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. I really loved the story line of these movies and again, it is another amazing futuristic movie.
6. DEADPOOL
I absolutely love both of the Deadpool movies so much! They make me laugh and the story line of these movies are just brilliant. The first Deadpool movie was released in 2016 and Deadpool 2 was released this year. I am hoping there will be a third movie because I enjoyed the first two so much!
7. SEVEN

This is another "oldie but a goodie". It was directed by David Fincher, who also directed Fight Club. The movie is about a retiring police detective who tackles his final case with the help of a newly transferred detective, they discover a number of murders and soon realise that they are dealing with a serial killer who is targeting people who he thinks represent the seven deadly sins. Seven is categorized as a Drama/Mystery and the movie was released in 1995.
8. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

I watched this movie because it was recommended to me by my mom, and I really enjoyed it. The movie was released in 1990 and it is a Tim Burton film - I already enjoy his films because they are dark and quirky. It is such a cute and amazing movie and I am so glad I watched it because it has become a favourite of mine. It is about a scientist who builds an animated being, Edward, but the scientist dies before he can finish Edward, leaving him with a freakish appearance along with scissor blades for hands, which makes him an outcast. A suburban woman discovers Edward and takes him home to look after him.
9. BEETLEJUICE

This is another Tim Burton movie that I recently watched and loved. Beetlejuice was released in 1988 and it is a Fantasy/Horror film. It is about a young couple who die in a car accident and are stuck haunting their country-side residence. When new people buy their home and move in, they attempt to scare them away without success and their efforts attract Beetlejuice, a spirit, whose help becomes dangerous.
10. AGE OF ADALINE

I saw the trailer for this movie on Instagram the other day and thought it looked interesting enough to watch. I honestly loved this movie, it was so amazing but also sad at times. This movie came out in 2015 and it is about a woman, Adaline Bowman who miraculously remains 29 years old for nearly 80 years, she makes sure never to get close to anyone as she cannot guarantee them a future and also so that they do not discover her secret. The story line of this movie is really good, it is categorized as a Drama/Fantasy, there is also romance in the movie.
11. MIDNIGHT SUN

When I saw the trailer for this movie I got so excited for it to come out because it looked really good. This movie is definitely a romantic tear-jerker. The movie is about a teenage girl who suffers a rare genetic condition that makes her sensitive to sunlight so she is sheltered at home, her world opens up at night when she is able to go out into the world. If you have not seen this movie, you just have to watch it!
12. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
There are currently two Guardians of the Galaxy movies out, I have seen both of them and enjoyed them a lot. I just love the story line and characters in these movies. The first movie was released in 2014 and Vol. 2 was released in 2017. These movies are categorized as Fantasy/Science Fiction. I love these movies because I do enjoy superhero movies and science fiction movies, but only a select few and these movies fall into that selection.
13. DAREDEVIL

I have always loved this movie since I was young and will always continue to love it and rewatch it. Daredevil was released in 2003 and it is a Marvel superhero movie about a blind attorney, Matt Murdock, who becomes Daredevil at night, a vigilante who relentlessly avenges justice, even though he is blind his other four remaining senses function with superhuman sharpness. There is a reboot TV series of Daredevil on Netflix now as well, but I still prefer the good old movie.
14. STAR WARS (EPISODES I - VI)

I am definitely a huge Star Wars fan. All of the Star Wars movies have been my favourite since I was little and I love sitting down and rewatching all six of them. I have seen the newer Star Wars movies, which are quite good, but to me they don't really go with the rest of the movies because they were not written by George Lucas like the first original six movies were. Star Wars has become a worldwide phenomenon since the first movie was released in the 1970's. The order in which the movies were released is: Episode 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. That is the order that is meant to be watched in to understand it better, but because I have seen the movies so many times I watch them in chronological order. I love these movies so much because of the characters and the story line is simply brilliant, to me the characters make it even more amazing.
15. 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

This is just overall such a good movie, there is romance, drama and a bit of comedy. This movie was released in 1999. I think it is so worth watching, if you have not seen it. It is the perfect teen movie as well, and I don't really want to elaborate on it too much, because it's one of those movies that you just have to watch, it's that good.
16. THE BREAKFAST CLUB

I know this movie is a lot of people's favourites and when I watched it ended up becoming a favourite of mine as well. The movie is about five students, who are all so different, that have to sit through a Saturday detention together. Each of them have a chance to tell their story, making the others see them in a different light, and when they day ends they all question if school will ever be the same.
17. GONE GIRL

This movie instantly became a favourite of mine after I watched it for the first time. I really enjoy movies like this (psychological thriller) because they are so twisted, it is never what you expect and they really mess with your head and make you think. Gone Girl is about a couple Amy and Nick Dunne who come across as the most perfect married couple, Amy goes missing on the couple's fifth wedding anniversary and Nick becomes the prime suspect in her disappearance. The pressure from the police and the media frenzy cause the happy image of the Dunne's union to crumble which leads to questions about who Nick and Amy really are.
18. TERMINAL

Terminal is a Drama/Thriller movie that was released this year in May. I really enjoyed this movie and it is another one of those movies that you need to watch to see what it is about, because I don't want to give anything away. If you enjoy dark or thrilling movies, then you will love this.
19. THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY

I don't think I can even put into words how hilarious this movie is. It is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. This movie is such a good romantic comedy movie and I really recommend it, it is a movie that anyone would enjoy.
20. SUICIDE SQUAD

I was surprised when I heard so many people saying that they did not enjoy this movie, but I loved it, I do think the movie was hyped up too much and people placed high expectations on it and that is maybe why some were disappointed. I enjoyed it because it is so different to any other kind of "superhero" movie because villains are recruited by a US Intelligence officer for a mission. I am hoping that there is going to be a sequel to this movie.
I still have many other movies that are also my favourite, but if I had to include all of them my list would be way too long. As you can tell I enjoy older movies and my usual favourites are futuristic movies, psychological thrillers, superhero, action, adventure and some romantic comedies. Obviously not all of these movies will be to everyone's liking but I hope that out of this list you will maybe find a movie that grabs your attention, that you have not seen.
