Being on Lockdown

I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the current situation our country (and many other countries) are facing at the moment, which is our nationwide lockdown. As you all know we are in lockdown to prevent the further spread of Covid-19, but I wanted to share my thoughts about how I am personally feeling about lockdown and how I am getting through it. This is such a different post to what I usually do and I hope you enjoy it!

Personally, I am grateful for this time as I have been working non-stop since the beginning of 2019 and I am being given a break from everything. I am using this time to rest, reflect and work on my mental well-being, like thinking about my goals, what I am passionate about and how I can work on myself. I find that when I get caught up in my routine of work and going out I end up putting other things off that I am trying to work towards because it is easier to just say I'm too busy or tired to do those things. This blog for instance, is something I want to work harder on and and make more time for. I always think it seems like a lot of work or effort until I start creating content and I actually enjoy it, so it is all in the mindset. This blog is an example of something I am passionate about and I feel like if I want it to grow I need to put more time into it.

I feel that it is really important to try and stay positive in this time of uncertainty and weirdness. It is so easy to move into a negative space during this time (not everyone wants to be stuck at home for a month) but try and think of how this time at home can benefit you and try and use it to your advantage, whether you need to relax or do work. I am using this time to tackle the things I have been putting off for a long time or never have time to do at home on my off days from work, like cleaning out my cupboard, reorganizing my room and redecorating. I am spending my lockdown at home with my family, and I have been enjoying just catching up with my family, playing board games and watching movies as we all never usually have time for these things on a day-to-day basis.

This is also a good time to have time to yourself because that is also so important, everyone needs alone time. I have also enjoyed seeing the positivity on social media and everyone tapping into their creativity and trying new things and sharing it. I have also noticed how uplifting everyone is trying to be which just makes this time a little easier, it's just nice to see how supportive everyone is trying to be towards one another.

Don't feel bad if you feel like you haven't done anything "productive" during lockdown or if you have just been relaxing. Use this time for what you'd like and make it want you want it to be - do what makes you happy, comfortable and fulfilled. I have actually spent most of my time in my pj's!

Stay positive and I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
